TAMPA, Fla. —Cobra's Curse, the new multidirectional roller coaster at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, finally has an official opening day: June 17.

       Busch Gardens officials announced the opening date in a press release Friday.

       Cobra's Curse is described as a "one-of-a-kind spin coaster" that features a 30,000-pound snake, a 70-foot vertical lift that reaches spins of 40 mph.

       Riders on the 3 1/2-minute ride travel on a 2,100-foot, "serpentine-like track" that takes them forward and backward

       Each train spins randomly during each ride. The speed and direction of the spin depends on the weight distribution of the riders.
