LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. —Dinosaur, the prehistoric thrill ride at Disney's Animal Kingdom, is set to close after this weekend.

       The ride in the DinoLand USA section of the park will be closed starting Monday.

       Disney is closing the ride for "refurbishment," according to the theme park's official website.

       Disney had previously said that the ride would reopen on Sept. 29, but it has since changed that date to "fall 2016."

      Opened as Countdown to Extinction in 1998, the ride was renamed in 2000 to match the animated film that was released the same year.

       During the ride, guests travel in vehicles called Time Rovers and animatronic dinosaurs populate the scenes.
