       Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Magic Kingdom's Frontierland is closed for refurbishment through November 18.

       A Disney spokesperson said the refurbishment is “routine maintenance.”

       Late summer is often the time when theme parks perform maintenance before the busy fall and holiday season.

       The Old West-themed ride, set in mining town of Tumbleweed, takes riders through an abandoned mine. The train winds around a two-and-a-half-acre mountain, as guests dodge waterfalls, earthquakes and landslides.

       Big Thunder Mountain Railroad opened at Walt Disney World in 1980.

       A similar version of the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad can be found at Disneyland in California, Tokyo Disneyland and Disneyland Paris.
